Ice Cube releases 3 new tracks with the 25th Anniversary Edition of his classic album Death Certificate.

On June 9th, Ice Cube dropped the 25th anniversary edition of Death Certificate which originally released in 1991(!). The original album went platinum in less than 2 months and contained hits “Steady Mobbin” and “True to the Game”. The album also contained one of the greatest diss tracks of all time “No Vasoline” which was directly related to Cube leaving N.W.A in 1989 due to royalty issues.

The 25th Anniversary edition contains the original Death Certificate tracks plus 3 new records “Only One Me”, “Good Cop, Bad Cop” and “Dominate the Weak”. (The video is posted below of “Good Cop, Bad Cop” and I feel like that video explains itself).

The first “Only One Me” hits hard from the start and could definitely be on your workout playlist. With lyrics like “Taught 2Pac how to keep it gangster, I showed Biggie how to release his anger” and the hook “There’s a lot of You’s and only one me, they are not confused by a wannabe”, this record will be in heavy rotation for me this summer.

“They put the sheep to sleep, and dominate the weak” is the hook for Dominate the Weak”, it has a dark carnival music feel with accordions; the chorus”. Cube is trying to wake America up (as he was 25 years ago) to make us realize that we can’t mindlessly follow fame.

If your a old school or new school hip-hop fan and are sick of the Yachty’s, Uzi’s, and Kodak’s, give this album a listen to reminisce or to hear Cube’s classic album for the first time.
