Jalen Smith has known where he wanted to go since his sophomore year at Mount Saint Joseph; and on Monday he committed to the Maryland Terrapins. Well Terps Nation, prepare to be wowed. This kid is legit.
While not exactly elite-size (yet), the 6’9″, 195 lb. Smith is a legitimate offensive threat. A very capable Swingman or Combo Forward. He’s got Brandon Ingram-like size, with Tony Parker-like finesse. He actually plays a lot like Kristaps Porzingis. A lethal combination.
Ranked 13th overall by Rivals, it’ll be fun watching Smith develop heading into his final year at the prep level. With Maryland coming off another NCAA tournament appearance and the roster remaining mostly intact, Smith’s year as part of the 2018 recruiting class will be fun to watch.
